TSA PreCheck®

TSA PreCheck is a program that allows low-risk travellers an expedited screening process. It's available for people who are departing or transiting through select airport locations in the United States.

TSA PreCheck is designed to be efficient and effective, using an intelligence-based approach to prescreen travellers.

Can I apply for TSA PreCheck?

The TSA PreCheck Application Program is only open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents.

What is the benefit of TSA PreCheck?

With TSA PreCheck you can enjoy a smoother screening process before boarding a domestic or international flight from over 200+ U.S. airports. You do not need to remove:

  • Shoes
  • Laptops
  • 3-1-1 liquids
  • Belts
  • Light jackets

Getting through security lines will be quicker and easier, allowing you more time to rest, connect, shop or dine at the airport. Children 17 and under can join an adult with TSA PreCheck lanes when TSA PreCheck appears on the child's boarding pass. Refer to the TSA PreCheck website for more information on travelling with family and kids.

How do I use TSA PreCheck?

To receive TSA PreCheck, you must include your Known Traveler Number (KTN) in the KTN field after you book your ticket with Air New Zealand. Please provide your booking agent with your KTN or inform our staff at the airport check-in counter. The TSA PreCheck indicator must be displayed on the boarding pass to access the expedited screening lanes.

How do I apply for TSA PreCheck?

The application is a two-step process:

  • 1

    Online Application

Submit a short, 5-minute application online and schedule an appointment at one of 600+ enrolment centres.

    • 2

      In-Person Appointment

Complete a 10-minute, in-person appointment that includes a background check, fingerprinting and fee payment. Most applicants receive their KTN in 3-5 days, though some applications can take up to 60 days.

Applicants can receive updates on their enrollment application status by email, phone, text or by checking online through the enrollment provider they applied with. Add your KTN to your Air New Zealand flight reservations through your booking agent.
